Sopistication meets innovation and tradition

The Madison Three-Hands with Eterna Spherodrive: a rare blend of inspired styling and pioneering micro-engineering. Combining straight and curved lines in a sleekly elegant example of contemporary design, fitted with a black Louisiana alligator strap, its stainless steel tonneau case frames a jet-black dial. Along with three rhodium-plated watch hands and hour markers, it features at six o’clock an aperture for a landmark Eterna invention: the proprietary Eterna Spherodrive ball bearing device for the spring barrel of its Calibre 3505 movement. Vastly reducing friction and wear at crucial pressure points, the Eterna Spherodrive system frees the movement to run more smoothly, durably and efficiently.

Eterna Calibre 3505
Despite its simple yet elegant appearance, Eterna’s Calibre 3505 movement incorporates a crucial technological innovation that has yielded a major improvement in timekeeping performance. At the heart of every mechanical movement, including a hand-wound mechanism like the Calibre 3505, lies its energy storage and delivery system, called the spring barrel. It contains and controls the mainspring whose winding and slow unwinding drives the movement, generating extreme friction and tension in the process. This centuries-old system has now been vastly improved by the use of strategically positioned ball bearings fitted with tiny, self-lubricating zirconium-oxide spheres. This so-called Eterna Spherodrive system allows the various parts involved to rotate much more smoothly, generating far less wear and tear and markedly improving the watch’s overall performance.
