This new movement follows the introduction of hand-wound calibres 3505 and 3510. Still equipped with the Eterna Spherodrive, it's today self-winding and round.
By means of the crown the hour of a second time zone can be set on the counter at 6 o'clock.
In a conventional watch movement, one end of the barrel arbour supporting the barrel and the mainspring pivots on the base plate, and the other in a bridge. In the Eterna 3843 movement with Eterna Spherodrive, the plain bearing for the barrel drum and the two plain bearings for the arbour in the base plate and in the bridge are replaced by an innovative lubrication-free double ball bearing mechanism. Eterna holds the worldwide patent for this innovation.
